Sketch in Procreate, Color with Markers: The Best of Both Worlds

Did you know you can sketch your characters in Procreate, print them out, and color them traditionally? Just like a coloring book, but with your own original art?

It’s a fun, stress-free way to experiment with different colors and mediums, without fear of possibly ruining a precious pencil sketch.

My Process:

1️⃣ Sketch in Procreate

Instead of sketching with pencils, I will often start by sketching my character digitally in Procreate. You can watch my sketching process in Procreate inside my free Character Art Starter Kit for Procreate! I'll walk you through the sketching process step by step.

2️⃣ Print on High-Quality Paper

Once my sketch is ready, I send it to the printer and print on HP 32lb Premium Choice paper. I always make 3-5 copies so I can experiment freely.

3️⃣ Color with Ohuhu Markers

With my printed sketches ready, I grab my favorite Ohuhu alcohol markers and start coloring!

Why I Love This Process:

Create Clean, Polished Line Art - Procreate makes it easy to refine and perfect your sketch before inking.

Print & Color Again and Again - No need to redraw! Just print another copy and experiment with different color palettes.

No Fear of Ruining a Sketch - Mess up with markers? No worries! Just grab another print and try again.

This process makes coloring so relaxing and fun, without the pressure of getting it perfect the first time.
